Elsewhere the Crusaders made the Bulls look like a school boy rugby team beating them 27-0. This can also be said for the Force and Waratahs game. The Sharks returned to winning ways by beating a lacklustre Lions team with a crucial bonus point. In the pick of the week’s game, the Brumbies all but ended the Hurricanes chances of a play-off spot with a 17-16 victory. In the other game of the weekend the Cheetahs lost out to the Highlanders and with better goal kicking would have won.

Australia in Bangladesh

Australia won by 60 runs

Rajasthan Royals beat Deccan Chargers by 8wickets

Royal Challengers Bangalore beat Kochi Tuskers Kerala by 6wickets

Mumbai Indians beat Delhi Daredevils by 8wickets

Pune Warriors beat Kings XI Punjab by 7wickets

The IPL started for 2011 and what a opening it was with the Knight Riders needing 8 off the last over to beat the defending champions the Chennai Super Kings only for Tim Southee to bowl a brilliant last over only going for 5runs. The biggest shock would have to be Deccan Chargers losing to a very well run and drilled Royals team. It was a good start for the South Africans in IPL 2011 with 4players reaching 50 and lots of wickets. Botha, De Villiers, Kallis and McLaren all making 50’s for their teams and yes that is Johan Botha who batted at 3 for the Royals and played a match winning innings.

The Masters

In one of the most amazing final rounds of a Major ever seen, with at one stage 14players within 4 shots of the lead, South African Charl Schwartzel won his first major championship with an incredible 4birdies in the last 4holes to win on 14-under 274 from Aussies, Jason Day and Adam Scott both on 12-under 276. After such promise Rory McIlroy choked under the pressure finishing with an 8-over 80 at times looking like an 18-handicap club golfer. Schwartzel’s final round 66 was the best of the day along with Tiger Woods who lost momentum on the back nine after a scintillating 5-under first nine. Woods ended the day at -10 with a whole host of other big name players such as Luke Donald and Geoff Ogilivy.

Malaysian Grand Prix

Vettel won his 2nd successive grand prix in Malaysia with a pole-to-flag victory over McLarens Jenson Button with Heidfeld regaining form to finish 3rd. Again Ferrari were disappointing and likewise for Mercedes. Hamilton finished 7th after a coming together with Alonso which put pay to his chances of winning.

Spurs got back to winning ways with a close 3-2 victory of Stoke. Elsewhere Arsenal stayed in contention with a 3-1 victory over Blackpool but you have to feel time is running out for the Gunners who are still 7points behind Man Utd. Chelsea won 1-0 against Wigan but are all but out of the title race now 11points behind.

UEFA Champions League

Real Madrid beat Spur 4-0

Barcelona beat Shaktar 5-1

Schalke beat Inter Milan 5-2

Man Utd beat Chelsea 1-0

All the quater-finals are all but over except maybe Chelsea Man Utd but even that game is looking over after Man Utd 1-0 away victory at Stamford Bridge. Madrid comprehensively beat a 10-man Spurs with 2 goals from Adebayor. Barcelona ran riot with Iniesta showing why he is close to the world’s best footballer. In the shock of the round, Schalke beat defending Champions Inter Milan 5-2 away from home and look certain of a meeting with Chelsea or Man Utd in the semi-finals.
