In the search for the perfect burger I have been to numerous places and although many create burgers that are edible and acceptable I did not know what I was missing until I ventured to Royale Café. Located conveniently in Long Street in Cape Town’s CBD the vibe is come as you are and bring your friends with. The atmosphere is very relaxed with a cocktail menu to help ease your stress after a tough day at the office and a burger menu to die for. Some combinations may seem a little risqué, but I guarantee if you arrive there with a decent appetite you will lick your plate clean.

Even if you are feeling under the weather the food at Royale Café will perk you up. As a burger lover I am incredibly fussy about the burgers I eat. I have heard some people rave about other restaurants burgers, but in all honesty I believe Royale Café scores top marks for their burgers. Their menu is bursting with flavour, has delicious and daring dishes that seem to come together perfectly. Each bite is better than the last. With a choice of potato wedges, chips, sweet potato chips or a combination of the three you will not go home hungry.

They offer a variety of burgers ranging from beef and chicken to fish and vegetarian. For the less adventurous there is the Royale classic and for the hungry there is always the double stack to fill the gap. For those who like to try new and different burger combinations there is a great selection of burgers for you to choose from. For me it is all in the basic burger; get that right and the rest can only be perfectly delicious.

The venue is deceptive because it appears to only be the downstairs area which is very intimate and cannot seat too many people, until you are re-directed upstairs where there is seating on the balcony or inside. Do not fret the cold if you are seated on the balcony as they have awnings that keep the chill out. The restaurant runs various specials for different days of the week and to find out more about those specials please contact them on 021- 422 4536.
