The much anticipated launch of the Calendar Girls Project is imminent. You have heard the phrase before, because the idea was based on a film that amongst many other things aims to promote a positive body image, hence the motto ‘Know Your Worth.’ Everyone who has been involved in the Calendar Girls Project has made the decision to stand up and join in the fight against the abuse of women and children. The charity that is to benefit from all the proceeds is the Saartjie Baartman Centre for Women and Children (SBCWC). The SBCWC was established in 1999 and was the first centre where abused women and children could take refuge. Organisations have had the benefit of joining together with the SBCWC to develop the best methods of dealing with violence against women and children.

Abuse takes many different forms and there is a misconception that if it is verbal abuse it does not deserve the same attention as physical abuse. Calendar Girls encourages women to stand up for themselves and take a stance against those who wish to put them down. Eating disorders are on the rise, because women believe that what the media portrays as beautiful is the only acceptable beauty. The Calendar Girls Project believes that beauty comes in all shapes and sizes.

The project has escalated to new heights thanks to all who have shown their support; from the sponsors to the organisers to the models and of course the lady behind the dream Coral-Leigh Stuart-deLange. For those who wish to be a part of this monumental occasion please join the Calendar Girls Project launch cocktail party on the 5th November at 2011 at the Pepper Club Hotel in Cape Town. For more information please refer to the invitation.
