With as many as one in every four South Africans being either directly or un-directly affected by Cancer at some point in their lives, the disease remains at the forefront of awareness – no matter what the time of year.

This December, Port Elizabeth based “Ladies Club 100” together with CANSA (Cancer South Africa) and Nashua Port Elizabeth will be raising awareness as well as much needed funding as they attempt to break the world record for the ‘World’s largest bikini photo shoot’

Organisers aim to assemble 2 000 bikini-clad women to smash the current record set by 1 923 participants in the Russian seaside resort of Sochi on July 19, 2008.

The event is scheduled to take place at the Boardwalk Casino and Entertainment Complex on Friday 16 December 2011 at 8am. The event is strictly for ladies only, and they are asked to wear bikinis as they pose for the group aerial shot.

For the more self-conscious ladies, a sarong is allowed. The event organisers are urging women of all ages, shapes and sizes to come down and enjoy in the fun, for this extremely worthy cause. One hour is all that is needed, after which ladies can enjoy some breakfast together at one of the many fine eateries at the Boardwalk, who will all be doing their bit for the event as they provide some special offers just for the ladies.

This year’s world record attempt will be hosted by Clayton Morar and Algoa FM’s Lauren Mungur (pictured above). Lauren and Clayton will also be there to oversee the counting process.

In the inaugural event last year, 905 ladies braved the cold and rainy weather to show their support for this cause. This year the organisers are hoping to have in excess of 2000 ladies which is what is required if they are to break the current world record.

This would be a fantastic feat, putting our The Friendly City on the map which is known for its beaches and summer fun, and of course to reach the two main objectives of raising much needed funding and awareness for CANSA.

While the ladies are busy with their shoot, they can enjoy some entertainment by the South African Idols Divas.

The cost to enter the world record attempt is a donation R50 and all ladies are welcome.
