Savanna is giving away R1 million at the New Year’s Eve Live City Linkup – what could be the last New Year’s Eve party ever!
It’s the end of the world as we know it. The Mayans and a host of other soothsayers predicted the end of the world in 2012. Remember 1999? Well, we’re still here.
So in celebration of life and all things chilled, Savanna is giving consumers the chance to win R1 million to tick something off their bucket lists.
This New Years Eve Savanna and 5FM are linking up two cities simultaneously. Two parties will be happening simultaneously on 31 December – one in Ballito (the insane Ballito
New Year’s Eve street party in the Village Centre) and one in Cape Town (at the sexy Breakwater Lodge rooftop, V&A Waterfront). Whichever one you attend, you’ll experience
the same end-of-the-world party madness; the same hot-shot 5FM DJs; the same not-to-be missed performances.
A Live City Linkup between the two cities will take place via live satellite technology. Both events will feature giant screens with theatrical production elements hosted by all of 5FM’s
most entertaining personalities. Come and see your favourite 5FM DJs – DJ Fresh, Euphonik, Roger Goode, Gareth Cliff, C-Live, Poppy and Rob Vember Other top performing
artists include; Goodluck, Niskerone, Gareth Devore, the Spindoctor, G Funk,Yaron, Justin Miller, Harel Salkow and more.
Picture the party atmosphere as people come to experience what could be the last New Year’s Eve party before the world ends. Ticket options include Regular, VIP and exclusive table bookings. The Venue has Been changed to The Wavehouse in the Gateway“We were forced to move the party from the beach, after we received approval from the local business owners, but… If the Durban council doesn’t want you to party on the beach, we will bring it to you! Wave House offers fantastic facilities to take our world class production, top DJs, and holiday beach energy even higher – just on a different beach, with an enhanced (and air-conditioned), two-level VIP lounge, balcony and private dancefloor,” explains Pieter Rossouw from SaEvents.biz (the producer of Black Tie & Barefoot).”
Have you ever wondered what it would feel like to be in tuxedo and walking on the beach barefoot? All you gotta do is get yourself a ticket to the 5FM Black Tie & Barefoot Party and you will experience a Black Tie event in true Beach style.
Situated in the biggest shopping mall in the Southern Hemisphere (The Gateway), The Wavehouse boasts the biggest manmade stationary wave in the world – The D-Rex – which is a 10 foot barrelling left and right point break wave. The venue boasts enough space to host thousands of people who will be celebrating New Year’s Eve 2010 in style. Apart from the traditional “beach feel”, the “Peanut” Trident will be set up next to The D-Rex make this event an unforgettable New Year’s celebration. The inflatable 1000m2 structure together with the beach has been said to be the “Ultimate Venue” for New Year’s Eve 2010/2011.
5FM’s Poppy Ntshingwana says “I can’t wait to hit the Durban beach on 31 December – how often does a DJ get the opportunity to play right on the beach to a rocking crowd on New Year’s Eve?! I can even go for a quick dip in the waves between track changes!” The event also features other top class 5FM DJ’s such as Milkshake (5FM), Catherine (5FM) and C-Live (5FM). They will be supported by the likes of Shane D (VIP floor), Coco Loco, Kevin Grenfell, Stuart Hillary, DJ Roxxi (VIP Floor) and Morne Groove Element (VIP Floor).
These days New Year’s Eve events have become very monotonous. With the same events and themes being repeated year in and year out. This year SaEvents.biz has decided that it’s time for a change, and a change it will be. Event Producer Pieter Rossouw explains that a party of this magnitude and theme would only be seen in cities such as Miami and Rio…until now!
This event is definitely not to be missed. The cutting-edge audio-visual effects together some of SA’s top DJ’s is going to be pleasing to more than just your eyes and ears. The world-class production and design, food stalls, multiple bars, secure facilities and a beach party like no-one has ever experienced before is going to make sure that you start your new year in style.

Have you ever wondered what it would be like to celebrate New Year’s Eve while at the same time enjoying a 15hr band line up? Well stop looking and get yourself to the Kenton Music Festival 2010. Situated on a farm (3.5km out of Kenton), the venue overlooks the gorgeous Kariega River which has been dubbed of late “a Natural Amphitheatre”. The event is the only 15 hour NYE party in South Africa and you’ll be rest assured that you will leave the event with your jaw scraping the ground on your way out.
The event has been really well thought out and is a result of months of good planning and experience. There is a 1200sqm tent in case of bad weather (fingers crossed there isn’t), sufficient parking (R30 per car) and camping which will cost you R50 per person per night. The camping site boasts facilities such as: Toilets and showers, Social Boma fireplace (no fires allowed anywhere else), plug points (we all know how much you love your cellphones ;P) and the trees surrounding the area helps with sheltering the site from wind.
Although the event is only in the second year of operation, you can look forward to a line up and loads of fun which is NOT to be missed. The line up features names such as: Prime Circle, Wonderboom, Tamara Dey, Flash Republic and Hog Hoggidy Hog to name just a few. There will be a variety of food stalls open throughout the day and the night. If you have had enough of the alcoholic side of life, you may want to enjoy a cup of coffee from Vida e Caffe to wake you up. In order to keep you hydrated and well paced for the long event, Vitamin Water has kindly provided their support.
