Animal print is the one fashion trend that will remain timeless.  Seasons will come and go, collections and ranges will come and go, and animal print will remain.  I’ve put together a quick and easy guide on how to pull off animal print without risking looking trashy and tacky.

DO NOT mix your prints

Just like you wouldn’t wear heels to the beach, or wear your flops to a club, never mix your prints.  Zebra and leopard do not go together, at all!  Stick to one print, and accessorise with colours.  You don’t want to risk looking like you’re the winner of a Safari themed party!

Make a statement, but keep it simple

The trick to wearing animal prints is to stick with only one item of animal print in your outfit.  Make a statement and go for leopard print tights, and team them with a black one-should jersey and patent black ballerina pumps.  Or keep it simple with a little black dress accessorised with a zebra or cheetah print clutch purse or heels.  When it comes to animal prints, less is always more.

Keep it original

Pink and white zebra print or shades of leopard print might look cute on a 3-year-old girl.  But on anyone older, it just looks trashy.  Educate yourself on these beautiful prints and stick to the original colours when shopping and wearing leopard, cheetah, and zebra.

Be risky!

Pairing your animal print with black or brown neutral colours is always the safe way to go.  But why not try pairing your faux fur leopard print coat with Russian red heels?  Making a bold and colourful statement, yet keeping it classy with sticking to neutral colours with the rest of your outfit, or accessorising with the same Russian red.

I’ve put together some really easy and beautiful ways to wear animal print to different events, with the animal print being the statement maker.

Shopping Spree

Your statement item is this gorgeous faux fur cheetah print coat, teamed with sheer or opague stockings, a LBD, and military boots.  Add a reg bag to spice it up and give it that fun edge.

Your dinner date

Go for a light, sheer material for your leopard print dress, paired with plain classic patent heels, and contrasted with a black clutch bag.  Accossorise with one single black wooden bangle and a flower in your hair to round off the outfit.

A day at the beach

Animal print can be worn everywhere and anytime.  And don’t ever under estimate what a really good anumal print bikini can do for a summer’s day!  Throw a kaftan over your bikini for some coverage and a wedge for that real summer look.  And try ditching the sunnies for a floppy straw hat.

Animal prints are fun and flirty and should always be experimented with!

  • My style principle when it comes to how to wear animal print is toning ht eprint down. That´s why I´d take the first look. I love how you toned down that leopard print dress with basic accessories – black pumps and black cluth.
